Sumber Perut Buncit

SHUTTERSTOCK

Sebab jika iya, jangan pikir panjang, AYO HINDARI!

Penyebab 1 : Makanan pengundang lemak.

Penyebab 3: Tidak pernah melakukan olahraga angkat beban.
University of Pennsylvania mengamati 164 responden perempuan.

Penyebab 4 : Melakukan sit up yang salah.

(PreventionIndonesiaonline/Siagian Priska)

Menkeu: Tidak ada “Bubble” Ekonomi
Kamis, 30 September 2010 | 07:23 WIB
PERSDA NETWORK/BIAN HARNANSA

(Kontan/Martina Prianti)

PepsiCo CEO named top businesswoman for 5th year
2:30pm EDT
NEW YORK (Reuters) – PepsiCo Inc chief Indra Nooyi is the most powerful woman in U.S. business for the fifth year in a row, but Yahoo Inc boss Carol Bartz is the highest paid, Fortune magazine said on Wednesday.

Bartz earned more than $47 million in 2009 and was ranked No. 10 on the 2010 most powerful women list, while Nooyi was the 10th highest paid with a salary of more than $14 million last year, Fortune said.

“Nooyi completed the purchase of PepsiCo’s two largest bottlers, bringing revenues to a projected $60 billion,” Fortune said. “Now she’ll have to deliver the $400 million annual cost savings she promised. Investors seem assured: The stock is up 12 percent since September 2009.”

The most powerful list ranked women in for-profit businesses. It was based on the size and importance of the business in the global economy, the health and direction of the business, the arc of the woman’s career, her social and cultural relevance.

The second most powerful businesswoman was Kraft Foods Chief Executive Irene Rosenfeld, who led a hostile $18 billion takeover of Britain’s Cadbury, No. 3 was Archer Daniels Midland Chief Executive Patricia Woertz, followed by Wellpoint Chief Executive Angela Braly.

Avon Products Andrea Jung came in at No. 5, while media mogul and talk show host Oprah Winfrey was the sixth most powerful businesswoman, followed by DuPont Chief Executive Ellen Kullman, IBM Senior Vice President Ginni Rometty and Xerox Chief Executive Ursula Burns.

Bartz rounded out the top ten, with Fortune saying: “A year and a half into her tenure, this candid leader is accused of lacking a vision for Yahoo. Despite partnerships with Nokia and Microsoft, investors aren’t impressed: The stock is down 15 percent this year.”

Behind Bartz, Oracle President Safra Catz was the second highest paid woman, earning more than $36 million in 2009, followed by former Schering-Plough executive Carrie Cox with $23 million, Kraft’s Rosenfeld with $22 million and Annaly Capital Management’s Chief Investment Officer Wellington Denahan-Norris with more than $21 million.

Bagian-bagian Tubuh yang Merasakan Efek Tertawa
AN Uyung Pramudiarja – detikHealth

Therapeutic Benefits of Laughter

Dr. Lee Berk and fellow researcher Dr. Stanley Tan of Loma Linda University in California have been studying the effects of laughter on the immune system. To date their published studies have shown that laughing lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, increases muscle flexion, and boosts immune function by raising levels of infection-fighting T-cells, disease-fighting proteins called Gamma-interferon and B-cells, which produce disease-destroying antibodies. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being.

Following is a summary of his research, taken from an interview published in the September/October 1996 issue of the Humor and Health Journal.

Laughter Activates the Immune System

In Berk’s study, the physiological response produced by belly laughter was opposite of what is seen in classical stress, supporting the conclusion that mirthful laughter is a eustress state — a state that produces healthy or positive emotions.

Research results indicate that, after exposure to humor, there is a general increase in activity within the immune system, including:
An increase in the number and activity level of natural killer cells that attack viral infected cells and some types of cancer and tumor cells.
An increase in activated T cells (T lymphocytes). There are many T cells that await activation. Laughter appears to tell the immune system to “turn it up a notch.”
An increase in the antibody IgA (immunoglobulin A), which fights upper respiratory tract insults and infections.
An increase in gamma interferon, which tells various components of the immune system to “turn on.”
An increase in IgB, the immunoglobulin produced in the greatest quantity in body, as well as an increase in Complement 3, which helps antibodies to pierce dysfunctional or infected cells. The increase in both substances was not only present while subjects watched a humor video; there also was a lingering effect that continued to show increased levels the next day.

Laughter Decreases “Stress” Hormones

The results of the study also supported research indicating a general decrease in stress hormones that constrict blood vessels and suppress immune activity. These were shown to decrease in the study group exposed to humor.

For example, levels of epinephrine were lower in the group both in anticipation of humor and after exposure to humor. Epinephrine levels remained down throughout the experiment.

In addition, dopamine levels (as measured by dopac) were also decreased. Dopamine is involved in the “fight or flight response” and is associated with elevated blood pressure.

Laughing is aerobic, providing a workout for the diaphragm and increasing the body’s ability to use oxygen.

Laughter brings in positive emotions that can enhance – not replace — conventional treatments. Hence it is another tool available to help fight the disease.

Experts believe that, when used as an adjunct to conventional care, laughter can reduce pain and aid the healing process. For one thing, laughter offers a powerful distraction from pain.

In a study published in the Journal of Holistic Nursing, patients were told one-liners after surgery and before painful medication was administered. Those exposed to humor perceived less pain when compared to patients who didn’t get a dose of humor as part of their therapy.

Perhaps, the biggest benefit of laughter is that it is free and has no known negative side effects.

So, here is a summary of how humor contributes to physical health. More details can be found in the article, Humor and Health contributed by Paul McGhee

Muscle Relaxation – Belly laugh results in muscle relaxation. While you laugh, the muscles that do not participate in the belly laugh, relaxes. After you finish laughing those muscles involved in the laughter start to relax. So, the action takes place in two stages.

Reduction of Stress Hormones – Laughter reduces at least four of neuroendocrine hormones associated with stress response. These are epinephrine, cortisol, dopac, and growth hormone.

Immune System Enhancement – Clinical studies have shown that humor strengthens the immune system.

Pain Reduction – Humor allows a person to “forget” about pains such as aches, arthritis, etc.

Cardiac Exercise – A belly laugh is equivalent to “an internal jogging.” Laughter can provide good cardiac conditioning especially for those who are unable to perform physical exercises.

Blood Pressure – Women seem to benefit more than men in preventing hypertension.

Respiration – Frequent belly laughter empties your lungs of more air than it takes in resulting in a cleansing effect – similar to deep breathing. Especially beneficial for patient’s who are suffering from emphysema and other respiratory ailments.
Laughter May Indeed Be the Best Medicine
Study Shows Laughing Changes Blood Chemistry, Helps Protect Against Disease, Depression
May 10, 2006 —

Let that belly laugh out. New research shows that it can literally change your blood chemistry and help protect you from disease and depression.

For several years now, scientists have suspected that “mirthful” laughter, as distinguished from nervous or self-conscious chuckles, can help the immune system and even fight heart disease, but serious data have been lacking.

Now, researchers at Loma Linda University in Southern California say they have found a physiological change that occurs when people laugh, and it lasts long after the laughter subsides.

Laughter, according to the scientists, stimulates the production of beta-endorphins, also known as the body’s own morphine, and human growth hormone, which helps tune up the immune system.

It’s a small study, and not likely to be embraced by everyone, but lead researcher Lee Berk says it’s very convincing, and the changes take place “at the chemical level.” The rewards, including the “feel good” attitude resulting from the increased supply of endorphins, can last up to 24 hours, he adds.

The research, which was presented at a recent meeting of the American Physiological Society called Experimental Biology 2006, is consistent with findings at a number of other institutions.

Cardiologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center reported a few years ago, for example, that their research showed that an active sense of humor could help prevent heart disease, but the reason why was not yet clear. Last year, they expanded on their earlier findings and reported that laughter has a direct impact on the function of blood vessels, allowing an increase in the flow of blood.

Some of the current research, oddly enough, grew out of efforts to understand why exercise is so important. Berk, for example, got into the field more than three decades ago while studying the impact of exercise on stress. He found that people who exercised regularly released endorphins at a different rate than those who didn’t.

“I thought, how interesting, here’s a behavior that actually produced an effect on the human brain,” he says. That led to another question. If exercise can do it, can other positive activities have a similar impact? To find out, he needed some kind of universal, positive experience.

“So I thought, what’s universal? Laughter is universal. And mirthful, happy laughter is a very positive emotional experience,” he says.

He set out to find out if laughter could be as effective as exercise, but funding was hard to get, and experiments were costly because they required so much medical supervision. While he was “stumbling around without any money,” as he puts it, he got a surprise phone call from novelist Norman Cousins.

“I don’t know how he found out about what we were trying to do, but he said he wanted to come to Loma Linda and see me,” Berk says.

Cousins had nearly died from ankylosing spondylitis, a painful rheumatic disease, but made a remarkable recovery that he attributed to changing from a negative to a positive attitude, partly by watching funny movies.

“He asked what it would take to do the research,” Berk recalls. “I said money. He said how much. So I gave him a figure and he said who do I make the check out to.”

Berk was off and running and published his first findings in 1985. But some of his most important research was revealed in 2001 when he and several colleagues reported on a study of heart patients at Loma Linda University. The 48 patients were divided into two groups, one of which watched 30 minutes of comedy every day, in addition to their regular cardiac care program. The other group didn’t see the movies.

The patients were followed for one year, and the results were dramatic.

“Heart attacks diminished drastically in the group that watched the comedies,” Berk says. Other symptoms improved to the point that medications were reduced. Only two of the patients who watched the movies had heart attacks during the experiment, compared to 10 who did not see the movies.

“It blew my mind,” Berk says.

Cousins, who had made it possible for Berk to continue his inquiries, wasn’t around for the latest result. The two talked for the last time in 1990, when Berk brought Cousins up to date on his work.

“Norman died two weeks later,” Berk says.

Berk and several colleagues continued the line of research, resulting in the most recent findings. They recruited 16 healthy males and divided them into two groups. Blood was drawn from all the subjects before the experiment, four times during the hour-long video, and three times afterward. Members of one group watched a funny movie of their choice, but the second group didn’t get to see the film.

The results, Berk says, were dramatic.

Even before the movie began, and long after it ended, the blood chemistry in the group watching the movie changed. Beta-endorphins, the so called body’s own morphine, rose by 27 percent, and human growth hormone rose by 87 percent compared to the group that didn’t see the movie.

That’s significant, Berk says, because of the role both those substances play.

“Endorphins are the stuff that make you feel good,” he says. “It’s the stuff that’s related to orgasmic response. It’s the runner’s high.”

It also slows down the heart rate, reduces blood pressure and opens air passages.

Human growth hormone “cranks up at night, when you and I are asleep,” Berk says. “It’s one of the hormones that helps re-tune a lot of things. And it tunes up and optimizes the immune system.”

Thus, his findings indicate there is a physiological basis for the good things that come from laughing. Small studies, to be sure, and much more research needs to be done, but funding will continue to be tight.

That’s partly because you can’t put laughter in a bottle, patent it and sell it for a profit. It’s enough to make you cry.

SYDNEY, Sept 29, 2010 (AFP)
German backpackers Christian Morbe and Kathrin Veith were prepared for their stay in Australia to be expensive, but the skyrocketing Australian dollar is catching tourists like them by surprise.

“Five dollars for a bottle of water at the airport,” exclaims 20-year-old Veith. “That’s pretty heavy.”

The Aussie, as the currency is known, has jumped almost 20 percent against the US dollar since June to post-financial crisis highs — stunning foreign visitors who were expecting more value from the greenback.

“All I know is that it’s expensive,” says Californian Wilfred Schulze of his Australian holiday from the harbourside forecourt of the Sydney Opera House, adding that his attitude was “spend it and cry later.”

Tourism is one of the industries most affected by the rising Australian currency, which has hit its highest levels in 26 months in recent days, nudging 97.05 US cents on Wednesday.

And the dollar, once dubbed the Pacific peso, is showing no signs of stopping.

“We fully expect to see the Aussie dollar strengthening,” Westpac chief currency strategist Robert Rennie said.

“If the Australian dollar is able to navigate October without a serious correction, I think the risks of us hitting parity (with the US dollar) by the end of this year will rise significantly.”

The expectation of further global economic recovery and a rise in commodity prices over the next year to 18 months meant the Aussie would likely rally into 2011 and “potentially move above parity with the USD in the next six months”, ANZ Bank said in a commentary.

Since it was first floated in December 1983, the Aussie has traded from below 50 US cents in early 2001 to its record high of 98.49 US cents in mid-July 2008.

The global financial crisis saw the currency drop to as low as some 60 US cents but the risk-driven Aussie has been on the climb during 2010 as the central Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has lifted interest rates.

Since June 7, 2010 — when it traded at 80.97 US cents amid Greece’s financial woes — the Aussie has bounced back as it benefits from Australia’s mining boom, higher interest rates and a weakening US dollar.

“Very strong commodity markets and export markets are helping the currency directly, as well as by providing for a very strong domestic economy, pushing up our interest rates and our interest rate differentials for the rest of the world,” ANZ chief economist Warren Hogan said.

“Most other major currencies are either weak because their economies are weak or weak because central banks in those places are trying to weaken those currencies.”

Hogan said while the Aussie’s recent run was “maybe a little bit over-extended in the short-term”, the currency was expected to consolidate in the mid-90 US cents range.

The rising dollar is placing a constraint on some sectors, particularly local tourism and wine exports, but at the same time Australians are taking advantage of the best exchange rate in years and flocking overseas.

Rennie said the Aussie’s yield was attractive, and this would only increase if the RBA continued to lift rates from the current 4.50 percent, as expected, while rates in the US hovered at historic lows of little more than zero.

Indications that the US Federal Reserve will take further measures to boost a faltering recovery were also contrasting with the RBA’s tightening stance as it confronts a strong and growing Australian economy, he said.

As fund managers scour the globe for safe but high-yielding investments, the Australia’s nearest competition among G20 economies in terms of yield was probably Turkey, Rennie said.

“If you ask the question, Australia or Turkey, from a yield point of view which would you rather own, the answer that’s always going to come back every day of the week from here to eternity — ‘I would much rather own the Australian yield’,” he said.

Persoalannya adalah How to develop of infractructure?” tegasnya.

“Ekspektasi Buruk Berpotensi Sebabkan Krisis”
Selasa, 28 September 2010 – 12:31 wib

Rheza Andhika Pamungkas – Okezone

Alasan Harga Emas Melambung Tinggi
Sejumlah analis memprediksi harga emas bakal naik hingga US$1.500 per ons.
SELASA, 28 SEPTEMBER 2010, 11:11 WIB Hadi Suprapto

VIVAnews – Harga emas dunia kembali melambung setelah sejumlah bank sentral di Eropa telah menghentikan penjualan cadangan emas.

Emas untuk pengiriman Desember ditutup naik 50 sen menjadi US$1.298,60 per ons (28,35 gram) di divisi Comex di New York Mercantile Exchange. Harga emas diperdagangkan tertinggi pada US$1.301,30 dan terendah US$1.295,80 pada Senin, 27 September 2010.

Sejumlah analis memprediksi harga emas bakal naik hingga US$1.500.

Hasilnya, sebagian besar delegasi memprediksi US$1.406, sedangkan 32 persen sisanya memperkirakan US$1.500. (The Street, Motle Fool, dan Reuters)

INILAH.COM, Jakarta – Sekali-kali bolehlah memuji pemerintah.

Artinya, dalam tempo setahun pendapatan penduduk naik US$1.000.

[mdr]
